Cheltenham Saracens Vs Long Crendon- Match Preview
Cheltenham Saracens host Long Crendon at Petersfield Park this weekend.
The visitors sit 18th from 19 teams with 17 points from a possible 93 having played the maximum number of games, Chipping Sodbury Town who sit in the relegation zone are just one point behind with three games in hand. The Robins have won just six games this season, two of which have been this week, they come into this game after back-to-back wins and clean sheets against Southam and Shortwood United.
Earlier this week the Robins sat right at the foot of the Hellenic Division One looking sure to go down however after two fantastic results they’ll be full of spirit and hoping to get three from three in this triple game week.
As for our hosts, the Sarries come into this game sitting 14th in the league having won their last two games, away to Moreton Rangers and at home to Chipping Sodbury Town.
The Sarries have had a rather up and down season having won seven, drawn six and lost 14. Despite this they’ve proven themselves in the Gloucestershire County FA Cup as they are through to the quarter finals where they face Bristol Telephones on February 27th.
The two sides played each other at the start of the season in August at the RAW Charging Stadium in Oxford which resulted in a two all draw, goals from Nevin and Hill for Crendon and Holmes and Evans for the Sarries. That game gave Crendon their first point of the season.
Sarries top scorer Jamie Goodwin will be looking to continue his fine form this season, and add to his already 11 goal tally. Crendon forward Liam Burt picked up his sixth goal of the season on Tuesday night against Shortwood United and will be looking to help his side to a much-needed three points.
